We believe in full transparency. Here are honest answers to the questions we'd ask ourselves before spending money on something like this.
What Is LandinMars
You are purchasing a permanent entry in the LandinMars digital registry — a record that states your name, the date, and the specific coordinates (100 m²) of your claimed parcel on Mars. You also receive a Deed of Claim PDF document. This is a digital collectible and historical record, not a legal land title.
Not yet. Mars land ownership is not legally recognized under current international law. But we believe that as humanity moves closer to colonizing Mars, the rules will change — and those who registered early may one day find that their claim carries real weight. This is not a guarantee. It is a belief in the direction history is heading.
The same reason people bought internet domain names in 1994 when they had no clear value — because the cost of being early is low, and the potential upside is asymmetric. Some people buy it as a novelty or gift. Others buy it as a bet that Mars property rights will eventually be formalized and early registrations will matter. Both are valid reasons. Neither is guaranteed.
OLY is the in-platform currency used on LandinMars. 1 OLY = $1 USD. You load your OLY wallet via Stripe (card payment) and use it to purchase and register parcels. OLY is not a cryptocurrency and has no value outside of this platform.
The Future Bet
Possibly. The Outer Space Treaty was signed in 1967 — before private spaceflight existed. Several legal scholars and space policy experts argue it is inadequate for the era of commercial space colonization. The US already passed the Space Act of 2015, allowing Americans to own resources extracted from space. As private colonies form on Mars, entirely new property frameworks may emerge. Early registered claims could serve as historical evidence in that context. This is speculative — but it is not absurd.
Elon Musk has publicly stated that Mars will not be governed by Earth's laws and will need its own self-governing system. SpaceX's Starlink terms of service even include a clause noting that Mars will be governed by "principles of self-governance" rather than any Earth nation's laws. Whether this translates into formal property rights remains to be seen.
SpaceX has targeted crewed Mars missions as early as the late 2020s with Starship. NASA's Moon-to-Mars program is rebuilding deep-space capability. Most estimates for a permanent Mars settlement range from 2040 to 2060. This is a long-term bet — not a short one.
The closest analogies are domain names and early digital real estate. Domain names were dismissed as worthless in the early 1990s — sex.com sold for $13M in 2010. Virtual real estate in platforms like Decentraland sold for millions before mass adoption. None of these are perfect analogies for Mars, but they illustrate the pattern: early registration of limited digital or symbolic territory can hold value when demand eventually arrives.
That's exactly the point — and there's an important difference that makes Mars land more tangible, not less. When Bitcoin launched in 2009, a single coin was worth less than a cent. It was dismissed as internet money with no real backing, no physical existence, nothing you could point to on a map. By 2024, a single Bitcoin exceeded $70,000.
Mars is a real planet. Its surface has real coordinates, measurable terrain, and confirmed geology. Your parcel exists at a specific latitude and longitude on a physical world that humanity is actively working to reach. Bitcoin had none of that. The question was never whether Bitcoin was "real" — the question was whether people would eventually agree it had value. The same question applies here. And unlike Bitcoin, your claim is tied to something you can point to in the night sky.
How It Works
After purchasing a parcel (1 OLY), you have 24 hours to register it at the lowest fee (+1 OLY). If you wait, the fee escalates: Day 2 costs +10 OLY, Day 3 costs +100 OLY. On Day 4, the parcel is permanently reclaimed and relisted. This system rewards decisive action and creates genuine scarcity pressure.
Your parcel is reclaimed and returned to the available pool. Your purchase cost (1 OLY) is not refunded. This is by design — registration within the window is the commitment that makes your claim permanent.
Yes — once registered, parcels can be listed on the LandinMars marketplace and sold to other users in OLY. The P2P market is opening soon. Sale price ranges are based on how quickly after registration you list: Day 1 registrations can sell for $12–$111, Day 2 registrations for $111–$1,100, and Day 3 registrations for $1,100–$11,111.
During the launch period, each user is limited to one parcel. This limit will be lifted in future phases. Early access to additional parcels will be offered to existing registered claimants first.
Trust & Safety
We understand why you'd ask. Here is what we can tell you: we are transparent that this is not a legal land deed. We do not claim Mars ownership is recognized by any government. We deliver exactly what we say — a permanent registry entry and a Deed of Claim document. Whether the speculative value of that claim ever materializes is genuinely uncertain. We think the bet is interesting. We think you should decide for yourself.
Yes. All payments are processed via Stripe, one of the world's most trusted payment processors. We never store your card details. Transactions are encrypted end-to-end.
Your Deed of Claim PDF is yours permanently — download it and keep it. It contains your name, coordinates, registry date, and certificate ID. This document exists independently of our servers. We recommend downloading it as soon as you register your parcel.
